"Astrobiology and Bacteria"

Dear SEMP Summertime Reader:
Four new Biot Reports about the theory of panspermia, also called exobiology
by Dr. Joshua Lederberg and astrobiology by N.A.S.A., are available by

Attention to astrobiology has exploded since the 1996 announcement
by N.A.S.A investigators of the identification of fossil bacteria in a
meteorite from Mars, recovered on the icy slopes of the Alan Hills in Antarctica.
The Earth is perpetually embedded in a dustpan of cometary and other kinds
of celestial dust, of which some 1,000 tons enter the terrestrial atmosphere
each year.
Bacteria are space-hardy. British astrophysicists have shown that the
average absorption wavelength pattern of COSMIC DUST GRAINS along the whole
path length from the galactic center to the Earth AGREES with the
average absorption wavelength of FREEZE-DRIED BACTERIA.
These ideas have an ancient history, but now science is validating
them with experimental observation, measurement, analysis, and synthesis.

combined methane, water, ammonia, and water and shocked it with electricity.

Stones Falling from the Sky, Part I:
1400 B.C. 1860 A.D.

Reports of stones falling from the sky saturate historical writings,
yet scholars discredited them, beginning with the Greek philosopher Aristotle.
In the last decade of the 1700s A.D., so many people witnessed a series
of closely-spaced stone infall events, that scholars acceded, and
